Christina with Arts4Refugees talks with Laura about an arty refugee in this episode - a student journalist with us. This placement was organised by Oxford University Career Services. Laura is post-grad criminology and criminal justice major at Green Templeton College, Oxford University. Laura chose to research a duo, Hans and Margret Ray.
Hans and Margret are authors of the Curious George series. They were German Jews and had to flee persecution. They both fled to Brazil which is where they met. They went on a honeymoon in Paris, where they decided to move after falling in love with the city. They had to leave again when the Nazi army invaded Paris. During their entire time escaping they had the Curious George manuscript with them and sold it to a publisher once they got to New York.
