Christina from Arts4Refugees talked with Charlie- a student journalist with us. This placement was organised by Oxford University Career Services. Charlie is a 1st-year history student. The arty refugee he chose is a poet named Emi Mahmoud. She is famous for her slam poetry and she has won many slam poetry championships in America and globally.
Emi focuses on her experience as a refugee. She fled from Sudan when she was very young and eventually ended up in the United States. She is very active in helping refugees around the world. Charlie finds her poetry very compelling and inspiring. One of the similarities that Charlie has with Emi is that he also writes poetry. Charlie is a part of The Oxford Student which is a print paper and he has written for Oxford Blue. He has written articles about employee strikes at Universities.ย
