In this episode, Christina from Arts4Refugees talks with Sahar - a student journalist with us. This placement was organised by Oxford University Career Services. Sahar is a second year student studying English at University College, Oxford. She is interested in journalism and is involved with the Global Women’s Narratives Project - part of Oxford Initiative. The project is about collecting narratives and helping women through the healing process of all the things they have gone through and getting their word out. She chose to research Nalini Malani who is a painter and experiments with video art.
Nalini was born in Pakistan and experienced the Partition of India. She was in Pakistan, and Milani’s family was Sikh so they had to move from Pakistan to India. Being a refugee speaks through her artwork, especially in her work, “Splitting the Other.”
